Apple has recently unveiled its latest MacBook Air models, featuring 13-inch and 15-inch screen sizes and equipped with the company’s own M3 chip. The 13-inch variant starts at $1,099, which is $100 lower than the previous M2 Air model, while the 15-inch model starts at $1,299. Pre-orders for both models are now available in the U.S., with general availability set for March 8.

In 2022, Apple released the M2 MacBook Air, and last year, they expanded the portfolio by adding the 15-inch model.

The new MacBook Air models boast an impressive claimed battery life of 18 hours, a 1080p webcam, and upgraded Wi-Fi 6E radios. They are equipped with two Thunderbolt ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It’s worth noting that the support for two external displays is possible only when the lid is closed.

The M3 chip, which was launched last year, features an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. Additionally, the new MacBook Air devices come with a three-mic array to enhance voice clarity during calls.

Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, expressed excitement about the latest release, stating, “MacBook Air is our most popular and loved Mac, with more customers choosing it over any other laptop. And today it gets even better with the M3 chip and new capabilities.”

Both the 13-inch and 15-inch models are available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space gray color options.

Interestingly, Apple’s announcement of the new MacBook Air devices coincided with the European Union’s decision to fine Apple €1.84 billion (approximately $2 billion) for violating antitrust rules in the music streaming market.
